Blog Summary

For the Assignment C1 for EDT201, I integrated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) technologies into classroom instruction, and these 3 digital portfolio documents my experience. Through reflective writing, original material, and hands-on activities, I explored the use of three diverse ICT technologies in real-world educational settings: Google Classrom, YouTube, and Google Docs. These technologies were chosen for their accessibility, relevance to student requirements, and potential to improve engagement and learning results. In my first reflection, I wrote about how I used Google Classroom to organize class materials, handle assignments, and communicate with students consistently. It was effective in streamlining classroom operations and encouraging individual learning, especially with its feedback and scheduling capabilities. I found it useful in building a more inclusive and organized digital learning environment. The second reflection was about YouTube, where I...

REFLECTION 3 - Google Docs

Google Docs In order to improve student engagement and active learning, I explored a number of ICT tools throughout my teacher training at Paro College of Education. Google Docs was one of the best among them for encouraging group writing and instant feedback. I completed a little group writing assignment using it in the EDT201 classes, and the experience was both beneficial and enlightening. Most of us were able to collaborate on the same document at the same time using Google Docs. When we were given the task of writing a brief essay, we were thrilled to watch other members type and revise in real time with them. This promoted a sense of shared responsibility in addition to teamwork. The ability of the students to comment on each other's ideas and participate equally enhanced the overall caliber of their work. As a grooming teacher, I felt that being able to give immediate feedback was the most helpful. I could underline specific passages and offer remarks or recommendati...

REFLECTION 2 - YouTube

YouTube I recently had the chance to teach monks in Class PP (Pre-Primary) at Kagyu Shedrupling.. One of the ICT tools I used with them was YouTube. The primary reason I chose YouTube is its vast collection of educational videos that are suitable for all ages, especially those that incorporate music and movement. My main objective was to teach them a simple dance that would foster a love of learning, rhythm, and physical coordination. In this case, YouTube worked incredibly well. A large selection of dancing videos made especially for young children are available on the platform. The children were instantly drawn in by the lively images, engaging music, and repetitive motions. In contrast to conventional approaches, which required me to again walk through each step, YouTube enabled me to play back particular segments of the movie so kids could watch and imitate at their own speed. For those who required additional time to catch up, this was quite beneficial. The flexibility of YouT...

REFLECTION 1 – Google Classroom

Image
Google Classroom Google Classroom has transformed the way I view virtual learning. Google created the virtual platform, which enables teachers to effectively create, distribute, and evaluate assignments while keeping in constant contact with pupils. During Coronavirus pandemic back in 2019, I started using Google Classroom. The most unique aspect of Google Classroom was how it supported independent learning. I had the flexibility to access materials at my own pace. Back in 2019 I was never a social butterfly, I hated social gathering and most of the time hesitates to stand in the class to answer question. Through Google Classroom, which was usually quiet and had limited face-to-face classes and similarly like me other introverts were more active in the comment sections and class discussions online. This created a more inclusive learning environment and gave every learner a voice. Google Classroom's feature to simplify classroom management is among its most significant featu...
