Blog Summary
For the Assignment C1 for EDT201,
I integrated Information and Communication Technology (ICT) technologies into
classroom instruction, and these 3 digital portfolio documents my experience.
Through reflective writing, original material, and hands-on activities, I
explored the use of three diverse ICT technologies in real-world educational
settings: Google Classrom, YouTube, and Google Docs. These technologies were
chosen for their accessibility, relevance to student requirements, and
potential to improve engagement and learning results.
In my first reflection, I wrote
about how I used Google Classroom to organize class materials, handle
assignments, and communicate with students consistently. It was effective in
streamlining classroom operations and encouraging individual learning,
especially with its feedback and scheduling capabilities. I found it useful in
building a more inclusive and organized digital learning environment.
The second reflection was about YouTube,
where I taught dance to Class PP monks at Kagyu Shedrupling. YouTube's colorful
images, music, and kid-friendly material made learning fun and participatory.
It enabled students, particularly young learners with limited experience with
digital technologies, to participate actively and confidently in class
activities. Despite internet issues, pre-downloading content ensured a smooth
delivery.
My third and final reflection
focused on the use of Google Docs to facilitate collaborative writing
assignments. It promoted student engagement, peer feedback, and digital literacy.
The tool enabled me to track individual contributions and provide real-time feedback,
thereby improving students' writing abilities and teamwork.
To supplement the reflections, I
provided three original photographs with contextual write-ups that demonstrate
the tools' actual application in classroom contexts. These photographs
demonstrate student participation, collaboration, and the incorporation of
technology into meaningful learning experiences. In addition, I prepared a
short video documenting my YouTube-based dancing class, showcasing the practical
use of ICT in primary education.
Overall, this blog documents my
development as a teacher in the digital age. It helped me objectively examine
the benefits and limitations of ICT in education, as well as build the skills
required to effectively implement them. I am excited to use these tools more
creatively and inclusively in my future teaching practices.
